Announcing minicom 1.60 This is version 1.60 of minicom. For those of you who don't know what minicom is, here's a short description: Minicom is a clone of the MSDOS "Telix" program, which in itself is based on Procomm. It supports color and IBM line drawing characters on the console. It also supports color and sound. All functions are accessed by a hotkey, and pop up a menu box. An extensive full screen dialing directory is also provided. The terminal emulations it offers are VT100, ANSI-BBS and MINIX (a leftover from the old days). Configuration is centralized in one configuration directory, but users can modify most parameters and these modifications are stored in their home directory. Access can be controlled on both user and configuration base (multiple configurations for different ports and modem are also supported). Minicom comes with an external program (runscript) that can be called automatically by minicom to automate logins. You also need the zmodem programs, sz and rz, for up and downloading. These programs must be gotten separately (but you'll probably already have them). Minicom has been developed for Linux, Minix, Coherent, System V R2,3,4 and BSD 4.3. This version has been compiled under Linux 0.99.15 with libc 4.4.4, Coherent 4.2, SunOS 4.1.3 and some 386BSD version (on a public access machine, BSD version unknown, gcc 2.3.3) and works great on all of them. For other systems tweaking might be needed - some hints on how to do this are included. Changes since the last version (1.5b) are: - Version number is now decimal-only - bugs fixed in ansi-color emulation, dialing directory. - speed in dialing directory can be set to "current". - online time keeps running during up/download and script execution. - resizing in an xterm works again. - some little changes, bugfixes etc. all over the place. - Added a note about minicom falling under the GPL in all source files. - Added a _real_ manpage for the script interpreter! - Script interpreter works O.K again. - you can dial a list of entries. - Added vt100 line graphics translation table (from the linux kernel). - Meta key support for both ways of meta: ESC prefix and high bit. - Zmodem auto download. This will be the last version for quite some time. I am leaving for Australia (I live in Holland, that's almost the other side of the earth for me) on March 4th, and I will stay there for about five months. So I hope I didn't introduce any fatal bugs :-) Mike. (miquels@drinkel.nl.mugnet.org)
