This directory contains precompiled Linux kernels.  Brief descriptions of
each kernel is given below.  You can find complete descriptions of the
kernels in the individual "config" files in each kernel subdirectory.

   generic.s       | Support for most single-processor Alpha systems.  This
                   | image is very large because it includes support for
                   | almost all SCSI adapters known to man.  Some of these
                   | will be pruned out later as it is determined if they
                   | do not work on the Alpha.
                   |
                   | This image is known to work on the AS 2000, DP264, 
                   | some PC164LX machines, and the EB164.

   avanti.s        | Support for the Alpha Server series of machines,
                   | under the code name of "Avanti".  This image includes
                   | a subset of the SCSI drivers builtin.
                   |
                   | This image is known to work on the AS 200 and AS 400.

   miata.s         | Support for the Digital Personal Workstation series
   lx164.s         | of Alphas.  This image includes a subset of the SCSI
                   | drivers builtin, including the Qlogic and NCR/Symbios
                   | controllers that are commonly found on these machines.
                   |
                   | This image is known to work on the Digital PWS 500au
                   | and PC164LX clones.

These kernels are offered for installation during the setup program and they
are provided here as a reference for those wanting to rebuild their kernel.
